Is this you?

You've tried to teach writing yourself, but you're tired of the stress it's causing between you and your child.

Your child speaks well but struggles to transfer those thoughts into writing.

Your child writes, but their ideas are all over the place and they need more structure.

Your child dreads writing assignments (and so do you)

You’ve tried other curriculums that didn't work.

Here's the truth.

Writing is one of the hardest subjects to teach at home. Curriculum alone is not enough!

Imagine a Different Way.

What if your child could receive elite writing instruction from the comfort of your kitchen table?

What if they got expert feedback, a writing roadmap, and community accountability — without you needing to teach everything yourself?

What if your child's writing improved drastically and it became one of their favorite subjects?

That’s EXACTLY what happens inside The Home School Table Community. Think Mathnasium but for writing.

"My life changed forever"

" I am a 13-year-old boy and Mrs. Brown has been my writing teacher for the last 2 years. When I first began writing, I really didn't like it at all. It was boring and time consuming. I just didn't feel motivated, and I never felt like I knew how to even start. After being a student with Mrs. Brown, I feel encouraged and writing has actually become something I enjoy. This year, thanks to my fantastic tutor, I developed a love for writing and I'm actually writing a book over the summer. " - Cale, Student

Frequently Asked Questions

If you don't see your question answered, email [email protected].

Question 1: What ages does this program support?

This program is designed to build foundational writing skills for students in 3rd through 9th grade.

Question 2: Are these classes in person or online?

Online. However, Mrs. Brown is available for in-person speaking engagements.

Question 3: Do I need to do all the teaching myself?

No! All lessons are led by a certified instructor. With the combination of the video-based curriculum and live weekly online classes, we do the teaching for you. However, teaching a child how to write is a team sport, so parents serve as editors for their child and keep them on track.

Question 4: When do the live writing classes meet?

All live writing teams meet on Tuesdays. We begin in September and end the last week in May. The times listed are in Eastern Standard Time.

Note, pick the class based on your child's reading level. Grade levels listed are based on the reading level of the source texts in the curriculum.

Elementary Options
10am - Writing and Grammar 1 (3rd-5th)
12pm - Writing and Grammar 2 (4th - 6th)

Middle School Options
2pm - Writing and Grammar 4 (7th - 9th)
4pm - Writing and Grammar 3 (6th - 8th)

Question 5: Can I use my charter school or ESA funds?

Yes, many families do! Email us at [email protected] to confirm your program is on our approved list. Purchase orders must be received before you are able to enroll in class.

Question 6: What if my child is behind or reluctant?

Great — that’s who we serve best. We’re built for reluctant writers and late bloomers. In our experience, students don't actually hate writing. They hate being confused by writing or struggling to figure out what to say. We solve that problem with our mastery-based curriculum, elite coaching, and supportive community.

Question 7: Do I have to pay all at once?

No. You can pay in full or choose to break your payments into four bimonthly payments.

Question 8: What support do I receive as a parent?

I'm glad you asked. We host monthly parent huddles to ensure you are supported every step of the way. We have parent orientation and training inside of our community to help you as you support your children. Additionally, instructors are available weekly after every live class to answer questions so you are never stuck. You are the most valuable part of our writing team! Our students who get the best results have parents who are fully supported.

Question 9: Is the curriculum included in the price?

No. The curriculum is not included and should be purchased from the IEW website. The links you'll need to purchase the curriculum are below. Notice that some include two links. This means you'll need to buy the writing and grammar consumable books separately. Please use the links below. Also, it takes about 14 days to arrive, so order early.

Question 14: I don't want group classes. Is it possible to just do private tutoring?
